Frequently asked questions
Answers about doctor matching in Australia: call-backs, the $99 doctor consult, Medicare, telehealth, privacy and when to speak with your GP first.
$99 doctor consult
$99 doctor consult — the fee for a consultation with a registered doctor only. Any treatment, tests or medicines are separate and decided by the doctor.
Are you a clinic?
No. Weight Doctor Match is an independent information and enquiry website, not a clinic. We pass enquiries to a referral partner clinic; a registered doctor decides what care is appropriate.
Who will contact me after I send an enquiry?
The partner clinic’s team can call you back about an assessment after you agree to share your details. We currently pass enquiries to one partner clinic. An enquiry is not a confirmed booking, and you can decide not to proceed after the call.
How much does a weight management consult cost?
$99 doctor consult — the fee for a consultation with a registered doctor only. Any treatment, tests or medicines are separate and decided by the doctor. Medicare rebates may not apply. Ask the clinic about follow-up fees in writing before booking.
What does the consult fee cover?
The $99 doctor consult is the fee for a consultation with a registered doctor only. This site does not set, collect or change the consult fee, and there are no hidden charges to the patient from this site. Ask for written pricing for any follow-up appointment before agreeing to it.
Does a consult guarantee a prescription?
No. A consult is an assessment, not a promise of any treatment. The doctor decides what is appropriate for your circumstances, and a consult does not guarantee any prescription. This site does not name or promote medicines.
Do you prescribe weight-loss injections?
We do not advertise, promote or guarantee any medicine of any kind. A registered doctor assesses you and decides what is appropriate for your circumstances, and a consult does not guarantee any prescription. This site never names medicines or treatment products.
Does Medicare cover a weight management consult?
Medicare rebates may not apply. Eligibility depends on the service and the person, so ask the clinic what applies to your proposed appointment. Do not assume that every follow-up or separate service has the same billing arrangements.
Will my consult be telehealth or in person?
The clinic can explain whether it offers real-time telehealth or in-person appointments, and the doctor considers what is appropriate. In-person availability: placeholder, unconfirmed. Ask the partner clinic whether an in-person consult is available to you. An online enquiry is not itself a consult.
What are the limits of telehealth?
Telehealth is a real-time conversation with a doctor, but not every assessment can be completed remotely. The doctor may decide that an examination, investigations or an in-person appointment is needed. Ask the clinic how those would be arranged before you book.
Can I use my own GP?
Yes, your regular GP is an option for discussing weight and health. You do not need to use this website to seek care. If you see another doctor, ask how information can be shared with your GP with your permission.
Can I use any pharmacy?
Yes, your pharmacy is always your choice. You are not required to use a pharmacy nominated by this website. Ask your chosen pharmacy directly about its services and any separate charges.
Is my information kept private?
Enquiries are stored privately and are not available for public viewing. With your consent, contact and enquiry details are passed to the partner clinic and, only if you later choose, a service connected to that clinic. Read the collection notice and Privacy Policy before submitting; the full policy remains a placeholder pending completion.
Do you sell my details?
No, we do not sell your information. Sharing your enquiry with the referral partner requires your unticked-by-default consent box to be selected. Our commercial relationship with that partner must still be completed in the disclosure.
What if I’m under 18?
If you are under 18, please see your GP. This enquiry form requires confirmation that you are 18 or older and blocks submission without it. The checklist is not a clinical assessment.
What if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
See your GP first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. They can discuss your circumstances and appropriate care. Do not rely on this website’s checklist to decide which treatment is suitable.
How do I make a complaint?
For complaints about this website or requests to access or correct enquiry details, our contact is [contact email: placeholder]. That address is not yet confirmed and must be completed before launch. For concerns about a clinic appointment, ask the clinic about its complaints process; the Privacy Policy explains the site’s current privacy status.
